Disappointments for a 15 year old

This morning I took my sweetest 15 year old to the dentist to have some cavities filled. We had been praying for a miracle that one of the cavities was not as deep as it appeared on her x-rays the dentist had taken a few weeks ago. Actually, we had been praying for healing. Well, that healing didn't happen. We are disappointed, especially that sweet 15 year old. It was much worse - down to the nerve worse. So, this blessing is going to have to have a root canal. :( She took it all in stride but then a bigger blow came when I called the orthodontist. She had an appointment for tomorrow to start getting braces put on her teeth. Notice I say had. It had to be cancelled until the root canal is complete. On top of that, there is not an endodotist in town who takes our military insurance. We have to find someone outside of the city and as far as we know now, there is no one in the state that takes it!!!! What's the point? Where's the silver lining in all of this you may ask? Not sure if it's in not getting the braces put on before we have to move and yes we will be moving again in a year and the braces not being ready to come off. That sets a whole new set of things into play. Or is it that Bella was not in any pain from this cavity the whole time? Yet, that may have worked against her as well since we might have been alerted to it a lot sooner?

This "Spin Dr." (as a friend calls me) is not finding the silver lining in all that happened today. Oh wait!!! I know what it was!!! Bella and I got to spend about 40 minutes with one of our favorite guys this morning while waiting for her perscriptions to be filled - though we still had to go out on the economy and fill one that an army pharmacy doesn't carry and it's a pretty popular perscription. This place is crazy!!!!! I digress. But seeing his face blessed my heart and a hug from dear dad helped sooth the pain a bit for her. And she and I got to spend some much needed mom and daughter time together (not the best kind of mother/ daughter time but we took it anyway). That's very rare these days. Bella got a movie, a milkshake and time to rest on mom and dad's bed without people- i.e. siblings- bugging her.

Life is full of disappointments. Many are the plans we make and God seems to continue to order our steps. Some steps I see on this road we are taking are well lit and others, well, not so much. It can be confusing when you think you are walking in His will, yet we know that God is bringing us to a point of complete dependance on Him. Maybe a new level is more accurate. So, we keep walking, looking up to take Daddy's hand as He leads us down the path we should go. All the while, knowing that we will experience disappointments a long the way; knowing the decisions He's made are for our good and will make so much more sense when the time comes to see how it all worked together.
